I love a good joke.....

For those of you who know me It is well known that I think that one of the biggest problems in the world today is that we have "Political Correctness" shoved down our throat on a daily basis. As I have said before I am not one to see color or sexuality or religion in another person. I don't really have it in me to be a prejudice person. I feel that being "PC" all the time is one of the many ways that keeps up from actually coming together as a nation, forgiving (not forgeting) the past and truly understanding one another. Why do they ask us on an application for employment for our sex or our nationality. Does it really matter, is my heritige of being Scotch/Irish/Scandinavian/Native American mean that I am going to be better or worse at a job than someone who is say Chinees/Irish. No not at all. Get rid of the preconcieved notions you have in regards to humanity and look at person for who they are and how they act.

That being said. I love good jokes, bad jokes, clean jokes, off colored jokes, military jokes, even jokes about Scotch/Irish/Scandinavian/Native Americans... so here are a couple of jokes that my good friend Misty sent the other day and I got a pretty good chuckle out of. Hope you enjoy

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive....so, I took her to a gas station.....And then the fight started....************************************************************************

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for SocialSecurity. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home.I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'.So I opened my shirt revealing my curl y silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me'and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at theSocial Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too'And then the fight started.....***********************************************************************

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and Ikept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table. My wife asked,' Do you know her?''Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took todrinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear shehasn't been sober since.''My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go oncelebrating that long?'And then the fight started.....***************** * *****************************************************

I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car.You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny?Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... he was a DWARF!!!He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOTHAPPY!!!'So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'And then the fight started.....

You will never look at a vet in the same way again....

I did not write this but I sure can appriciate it. God bless those who do thier job with no question, no hesitation, and with undying love of their families and country.
The average age of the U.S. military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as halfman, half boy.Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's;but he has never collected unemployment either. He's a recent High School graduate;he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left,or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away.He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and 155 mm howitzer. He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at homebecause he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk.He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him,but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark.He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcherand use either one effectively if he must.He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional. He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march. He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient.He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts. If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands. He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay and still find ironic humor in it all.He has seen more suffering and death then he should have in his short lifetime. He has stood atop mountains of dead bodies, and helped to create them.He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed. He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom.Beardless or not, he is not a boy.He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years. He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding.Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood. And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot..A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets

This is what I learned today.....and we call this the news

I love the internet, I could most likely spend hours surfing the net, I am a self confessed news junky. Yes there are other sites out there the I visit and utilize but for the most part I surf the news sites, the movie sites (no not that kind of movie, they get me in trouble with my wife) I like keepin up with my friends and fellow wariors, I do research on PTSD and TBI. And I love to see what is going on in the world. So here is what I learned today about the world.

1. Rebbecca Romain is going to have twins.
2. Brittney Spears and her Ex have come to terms on their custody battle and she is going to pay him lots of money to take care of his kids.
3. Shai LaBeouf was intoxicated and wrecked his truck, but he vows he will be back on the set of Transformers II within a month.
4. Brett Favre is not going to retire, not going to go to training camp, wants to play football, and still cant spell his last name.
5. Gas prices suck, but not as much as last week.
6. President Bush sucks, but not as much as last week, ok so maybe more than last week.
7. We are still at war but now the debate is weather we are focusing on the important region of the world, or did we make a mistake and not take out Osama Bin Laden first (that's a no brainer)
8. Some actor or actress somewhere did something stupid, outrageous, charitable, funny, sad, pathetic or just plain f(*&ed up.

This is the news that is reported. We now have news programs on TV that are completely focused on "Celebrity" issues. Who cares, I am more intersted in making sure my family has food on the table, a roof over their heads, clean clothes and a stable environment than weather or not Paris Hilton is fucking some guy in a band or a Greek Shipping Tycoon
Get the idea here. I want to know what the presidential canadates are going to do for me and my family in regards to education, the economy and other domestic and forign issues that will really make a difference. Why do we focus on people that act, play sports, sing, or just make an ass out of themselves. Now don't get me wrong, I love the movies, am a huge sports fan, watch my share of TV, have had chrushes on famous ladies. but why do we place them so high on a pedistle when we have our own problems. There has been a huge chrunch in the housing market and thousands upon thousands of Americans have lost their homes. I is hard to live on wages that are middle class when everything around us seem to be increasing in price, but do I really have to have sympathy for the poor actor who is going to loose his 3,000,000$ home bucause after he made 45 million last year he didn't have enogh money to make his mortgage. Wow I am heart broken to hear that. Let's stop worrying about the Brittney's, Jen's, Justins and focus on the heartland of America, the men and women in uniform from police and fire to sailors and soldiers. Show appriciation to the teachers and coaches out there helping mold the minds of our youth. How many people out ther know that Randy Pausch, the professor who wrote and gave what is know as "the final lecture" (if you aren't familure make yourself so) passed away. Here was a man who was delt a shitty hand and rather than curl up and cry and feel sorry decided the best gift he could give his wife and kids, and the world, was to live his life and share it with everyone. In Spokane a couple of weeks ago a US Marine reservist ran into a burning building and saved a couple of young kids. He said he just did what he thought was right, not that he was a hero but just a guy in the right place at the right time. Semper Fi brother, thanks for showing what makes a real man. But instead of that piece of new we got to learn that Siena Miller had and affair with a married man and was romping around for all to see and then got upset when the trash papers printed it.

Here is my point, make it a habit of reading the news. not the crap they throw at you to get your attention but the news. it may take some looking on your part but it is out there, and some of it will make you feel like shit, but there is a lot of it that will make you proud and really give you something to strive for.

Shark Week on Discovery.... is it safe to go back in the water.

As Always, live the good life, love the world cause it is the only one we got, and go out and watch a kid eat an ice cream cone and not care about the world.

Till we meet again.

What in God's name gives you the right......

I had to take some time before I started this topic. I wanted to do some research and make sure that I had my facts strait. I began to think that I might be hypocritical of me to make the statements that I am going to but then I realized that I'm not passing judgment on these people I am trying to make a point and get some clearer understanding of why people act the way that they do and their justification.

I would like to say that this has only been going on for a few months maybee even a few years but the truth of the matter is that throughout the history of the Church this has been happening.
For right now though I would like to focus on the the present.

Why does it seem that people who consider themselves men of God feel that it is their right to condem, ridicule, persicute and huiliate others. What I remember growing up in my disfunctional Catholic family is that as a priest, minister, pastor, father, bishop, decon..... is that you are to be the leader, the example an extention of Christ and one who is lead his flock to the word of God. You were to be well versed in the Bible and its' teachings, able to at a moments notice pull out that one schripture that would be able to explain a sitution or bring peace to troubled times. I went to many different churches as a youth, being born into a strong Irish Catholic family, my father allowed me to experience many different aspects of Judeo-Christian religions, I have been lucky enough to experience in my adulthood many other religions ie.. Muslim, Budhist, Sufi and soforth. Never, I repeat Never did I ever experience a religious leader of any church I attended to out and purposely attack someone because they were different, not of that church or sect. But here recently I get to see grown men who are preaching the word of God do just that. Now I have been quick to jump to the saying "Judge not lest ye be judged" and "Let ye without sin cast the first stone". So I went and looked up these sayings and what went before and after these lines as to not take them out of context. What I got out of this research was that we are to forgive the sinner but not the sin. Ok I can get that but what really got to me was that there was a collective agreement that tolerence is the most overused word in the English language and that we need not be tolerent because God will not be tolerent when it comes to dealing with sinners. Well I say bullshit. I still beleive that God is a loving God, he is a enity of peace, understanding, compation, warmth and wisdom. If God were not tolerent then he would have crushed us like little bugs long ago for all the dumb shit we have done to his creation, for all the hatred and evil that we have spewed. If we had a God that was lacking in tolerence and understanding mankind would have been erased from the earth long ago and he would have started over. I think that we should be more tolerent of people and that the more tolerent of people we are the more it will influence them and generations to come. If you are going to talk to groups of people, present yourself as a person of integrity and as a positive role model then do it. Expand your horizons and learn other cultures, you will be amazed at how close we are all. Teach and talk, but listen and learn. You can spread the word of God but you will scare more people away if you sit there and attempt to shove it down others throats. Don't condem, embrace. Don't critisize, share. Don't hate, love. Teach our kids tolerence and understanding, share with them your ideas and ideals. Guide them with passion and an open mind.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
What I want people to realize is there are no quantifiers to this. It does not say for you to love your neighbor unless he is different than you. It does not state that if you do not agree with some one you are to not love them, it is all encompasing. LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. Pretty easy to understand. If you hate yourself though go and get some help and don't take it out on others.
I am not trying to preach I just want this to be a better world for my son and his generation. Becoming a father has truly made me reevaluate my life and how I should live it.
Enjoy your day and your life. Make a difference that counts and share your story with those who have not heard it.

Alright people it is time to pull your heads out....

Every four years this country goes through a process of electing an individual who is to represent the collective one of our nation. This person should exemplify all that is good about America, the strengths, the integrity and above all else the Unity. For it was unity that has banded us together from the days of the first man setting foot on these shores (before the white eyes came and screwed it up) to the shared sorrow and heartbreak of the attacks on the Twin Towers. That being said, what the hell is going on.

Just the other day there was an article regarding the Reverend Jesse Jackson and his use of language towards presidential canidate Barack Obama and how he "talked down to African Americans", now there is indication that the Reverend Jackson aslo used a colorful racial slur known as the "N" word towards Barack. For those of you who aren't aware of this both Revernd Jackson and Barack Obama are of the African American culture. (this is going to be a topic later, probally later today). So back to my original point, the following day on the ABC talk show "The View" a heated discussion between Whoopi Goldberg, Shar Jackson and Elizibeth Hassleback came about about the appropriatness of the use of this word. Here is my take on the word Nigger (there I said it). Any person of any race that feels it is an appropriate word to describe another human being is an idiot. I don't care if you are Asian, African, Indain, Native American, Caucasian (another term I hate), Hispanic (there all not from Mexico), for you to use this term along with .... spic, nip, chink, cracker, honkey, wop, mick, slope, gook, spook and on and on and on you are not only ignorant you are the reason that this world is so screwed up. I have always been a firm believer that I do not see color. I can't justify passing judgement on another person because of the pigmintation of their skin, the shape of their eyes, the way they grow their hair or any other physical characteristic. Not one person in this world asked to be born to any parent in any country in any situation so why do I get the chance to pass judgement on them and deem myself superior to them because I am "better". Get off your high horses we are all of the HUMAN RACE, the physical traits of different cultures are there because of the climates and enviornments that they live in, period. This prejudices are across the board. Do not justify using derogitory statements against your own race because it doesn't meen the same as when someone of another race uses it. Whe the Reverend Jackson used the word Nigger he used it in the same context as if David Duke (Grand Master of the KKK) had used it. I don't understand why we have to continue and teach our children to hate and resent those who are different. Here is a good idea teach tolerance, understanding and compassion. If something scares you because it is diffent, take the time to go out and learn about it, it may not be as scarry as you had thought to begin with. Here is another little known fact, the Christian religions that we are so tied to and base so much of how we live our lifes does not allow for the intolerance that people show towards others. "Love thy neighbor" is the passege, it does not draw exclusions for any person, it says to just love. I believe that if we are ever able as a society to get past the issue of race we can focus our energy towards more important issues, like preserving our world for those to come. I am a soldier and I have served my country proudly but if I were to loose my job tomorow because there were no more wars and people choses to resepect the rights and cultures of all others, I would gladly retire. Since I believe that it is more possible for the Winter Olympics to be held in Death Valley, I will continue my everlasting quest to change the oppinions of those out there who are open to new thoughts, able to think outside the box and can see the potential of a great new world, where hopefully my son will never have to go to war.

Here is a repost of an letter I wrote while in Iraq

One of my biggest issues today is with how the United States Miltary is precived and looked upon. I have proudly served for over twenty years and take great pride in those who have served before me. I come from a long line of Marines and Soldiers and pray that my service reflects well uopon them. There are always people who feel it is there right to persicute those who are doing their job and following orders. If you disagree what is going on in the world yelling at the young soldier or sailor at their base isn't going to change a damn thing. Sack up and complain to those who make the desicions and issue the orders. I'm not going to change the policies but I damn sure will change the world.....

Greeteings From Iraq

I had just realized that Saturday is Veterans Day and that many people will be off on Friday to observe the holiday. In the past I have always stated that Veterans day is one of my favorite holidays and the reason was that I always felt that it was appropriate that we have a day set aside to honor those who have served and fallen for our country.
Now more than ever I feel that we should utilize this day to keep in rememberance all of those who are now over here answering the call. Everyday I hear the medivac chopers come in to the hospital and the call go out for blood doners, I see troops come back in from convoys and missions and their vehicles have been shot up or hit by IED's. To often you hear of a memorial service for another of my fellow servicemen that has lost his life doing his job.
I don't care if you agree or disagree with this war or why we are over here, what I do care about is the that you support the men and women who are here doing a job that guite honestly not many people would want. These young men and women should never be the subject of random ridicule or anger, they should never have to be ashamed of themselves for serving, and on a day that is set aside to honor them then they should be honored.
I am proud to serve my country and proud to serve with my fellow soldiers, so on this Veterans Day I ask that you take some time and attened one of the many sevices that go on in your area, fly a flag, thank someone for their service, just take pride in the fact that we have these men and women doing this job and doing it with honor.
Now I know that almost all of you that read this are friends and family of mine and support me while I am over here, but this is something that I feel very strongly about. So pass it on to others who think that Veterans Day is just another reason to go to Sears for a great sale or that it is another day off with pay from work. All my love

Welcome to my vision on the world and what is going on today

I have been going through therapy since returning from Iraq last year. In discusion with my theripist we came up with the idea of me starting a blog to help express myself and use as an outlet for my anger issues. Ok my sister and my wife have always told me that I am extreemly opinionated and like to hear the sound of my own voice. What the heck. Maybe my words will touch someone, make them think from a different point of view, or maybe just provide a good laugh when they need it. I do have some ground rules so here they are.

1. I was a history major not an english major, I will use words in the wrong context, I will miss spell words and I am well aware of this. I don't need to be corrected, if you are having trouble understanding what I am saying ask and I will explain.

2. I love feedback, good, bad ugly it does not matter to me. I don't expect everyone to agree with me and I would love to get other oppinons, but I also like having my ego stroked every now and then.

3. Respect is a key issue with me, if you are reading a post or a response and you disagree that is fine express your oppinion but do not sit there and lambaste someone and ridicule them because you feel superior to them. I will not hesitate to block your ass and tell you why. DON'T PISS OF THE BIG BALD GUY WITH PTSD. Thank you.

That's it, I am not opposed to profanity, bad jokes or even really bad jokes, I am doing this for a couple of reasons one is to help myself out in a possitive manner and the other is to go out and really try and get people to think and talk about issues that are effecting us today. This is my soapbox and I make it easy for you to turn off at any time.

So with all that said let's get this party rolling.

Sean.

Here is a little bit about me
(just so you know who is rambiling on)
I am a 39 year old male, I enjoy long moonlight walks on the beach sipping Mojitos.....Oops wrong blog. In all reality I am a career military man with over twenty years active and reserves in the United Sates Navy. I am a SeaBee - that is a combat engineer - I run heavy equipement and have had the pleasure of serving all over the world (including the giant catbox in the middle east). I am a proud father of, in my biased oppinion, one of the greates 5 year olds to ever walk this earth. He is my pride and joy and I feel that he has made my life truely blessed. His mother is my love and has helped keep me grounded even during some really rough times over the last year. I am extreemly proud of her as she has just graduated with honers from Eastern Washington University with a BA in Education. She is going to be an incredible teacher.
I have a truely kickass family, two sisters and two brothers and two more sisters and neices and nephews comming out the Kazzo, but they are killer. Me and my older sister are a lot alike (stuborn, hard headed, driven) and I love her, my little sister rocks, she has her own hippy-dippy bookstore, coffee shop lunch counter and she is happy, My kid brothers are both great guys, both have been throgh all sorts of crap in their lives and are comming out on top. (Jake is the only one with no kids - that we know of) I have two sisters in Hawaii that I miss tons but hopefully will see within the next year. In case you haven't figgured it out I am the product of numerous mariges, My father is on number 3 and my mom has had a couple more. I have been blessed with a great extended family and some of the greatest friends a mand could ask for.
My brothers and sisters in arms have been an incredible lifeline for me and I can truely say that I have served with the best. Any other information that I might be able to provide has been clasified and is currently under review by the FBI... As it is released and you have a need to know I will post it... In all seriousnes if there is something you want to know just ask I really don't have much to hide.
Keep reading and sharing... life is to short to be small minded...
Do me a favor and share this with other so I don't feel like I am just writing to the dark. Send feeback and questions and Ideas for other topics..
and remember above all else ..... Go Navy, Beat Army!!!
Love ya all
Sean
